It was a devotional-level study, not a deep dive. I had a few people message me afterwards with their thoughts and ideas. It was a good exercise. What will you learn? I remember being warned by a mentor when I got out of Bible School and into ministry. He said there are two things that will probably haunt you your whole ministry and life: sex and money. He was right. They are constant temptations. He also told me that if I could keep people out of my life, ministry would go way smoother! Haha! He was joking, of course.

Sexual purity is essential. Self-control is also necessary to honor God in this area of your life. What interested me here was that I have a responsibility to keep myself from sin. God is not going to do ALL the work for me. It is Him and me together.

We all love to hear that we are doing a good job. It is encouraging, and it tells us that we are usually heading in the right direction. The church at Thessalonica was doing fantastic work for God, and the Apostle Paul was very grateful for their faithfulness.

But there was a reason they were doing great. The same reason they were doing great, we can be doing great. First and Second Thessalonians are two great books that will challenge our character and integrity and remind us of what is coming up in the end of times.

The greatest bond we have on earth is the bond with our spouse. There is no mistaking that everything in our world, plus Satan and his demons, are trying to tear that apart. Divorce is not an option. God does not like divorce at all. He doesn't like it for any reason whatsoever. There seems to be some provision for divorce when there is abuse/abandonment and unfaithfulness with another person. But, even then, God would prefer it to be worked out and stay married if at all possible. No, you are right. This is not easy. It is very difficult. But by God's grace and both parties working towards the goal of honoring God, it CAN be done.
